Moda "Piece and Comfort Challenge 2015"
Huckleberry Patches is proud to be a participating shop in moda's Piece and Comfort Challenge! What's it all about? Well, the purpose of the challenge is to recognize and honor the sacrifices that are made by our country's military families. Those who serve face adversity, hardships, and separation from their families. Those left behind keep the household running; children dearly miss their parent, brother, sister, aunt or uncle. This challenge is for them! The challenge begins January 1, 2015- March 31, 2015. Challenge quilts will be displayed and voted on at Huckleberry Patches April 6-18. The Viewers' Choice winner will be entered in moda's online quilt show, and national winners will be announced May 8, 2015. Come in to pick up your Entry Form, rules, and fabric!

New Beginnings...
Well, it's been quite awhile since I've posted anything to the blog! It's been a very busy summer, full of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness! Well, here's a little summary of what life has been like at Huckleberry Patches over the last 3 months; as we planned 10 1/2 years ago, Katie officially retired from the store in July, leaving her free to pursue her many talents and interests. Unfortunately, some health issues have given her a brief setback, but she is on the mend and feeling much better! She has been the best partner I could have ever imagined, and I'm so thankful to continue my relationship with her as one of my dearest friends. I was able to spend some time in Seattle with family before coming home and hosting Pam Buda's classes earlier this month! We learned so much from this extremely talented designer and quilter! So, what's new at Huckleberry Patches? Well, lots!! Flannel and more flannel!, two Blocks of the Month programs, new fabric- that's Somerset by Fig Tree below!-, new gift lines, including locally made huckleberry products, and of course books, patterns, and samples with kits to keep you busy stitching all winter long! If you're in the area, stop in and tell me what you've loved about Huckleberry Patches through the years...and together, we'll see how much fun quilting can be! Happy Stitching, Lisa

Christmas in July!
Now, I will candidly admit that Katie and I are NOT fans of this popular fabric sales event! Goodness, we just said goodbye to the snow in our yards two months ago! But, there's no denying the appeal of buying a Christmas project in July and feeling like you are already WAY ahead of the game! Well, we can honestly tell you this cute project will definitely get done before you hear the first strains of "Deck the Halls"! This fun project can certainly be done with a budding young quilter in the family- you literally fold and sew! Little ones will have such a great time counting down the days to Christmas by finding something hiding in the pockets! Don't wait until the first snow to take this panel home! Happy summer stitching, Katie and Lisa

Ahhh, are you feeling the love? Or the rush of adrenaline?!
February is usually all about LOVE! But, right now, what we're really obsessing over is the Olympics! We've had our Olympic handwork picked out for weeks, as we anticipate all that TV time! We could pretty much watch every event 24/7, and yes, that time difference is something of a problem! No spoiler alerts here, however! We had a fun time guessing each other's favorite sport- for the record, Katie's is downhill skiing, and mine is hockey!- and that got us to thinking...how alike are you in your quilting style to your favorite Olympic sport? Do you barrel into a project, hanging onto your Bernina for dear life, like you are a luger?! Or are you more apt to glide beautifully through your quilt top, at one with your Pfaff, just like an ice dancing pair?! Tell us which sport you identify with the most and why, and you'll be entered into our drawing! We'll draw our winner on Monday, February 24th. So, jump up and cheer, clap, and cry as we root on our athletes! GO USA!!! And happy stitching! Katie and Lisa
